Birds on Wires

In our age of wireless Internet, I wonder what will eventually become of all those poles and wires that once served us in phone communication. Perhaps they will become the communication posts for birds of a feather. I saw this shot and couldn't help but think that these birds were engaged in the telephone game... whispering messages to one another about the crazy humans who walked along the boardwalk below.

Donkey Face

Being attuned to Nature is easily attained when belief is suspended and the mind wanders into the realm of imagination. On one of my photographic walks around the yard, I came across what would appear to be an exposed tree root. In my active imagination it was a wise eyed donkey face nodding a hello.

Creature Comforts

As a child I often played with these daddy long legs, also know as harvestmen. I would let them crawl up my arm and sometimes they were content to sit there for a while. These arachnids are not spiders, and there is no truth to the myth that they have venomous poison. While sitting on my font porch one summer afternoon, I caught these two side by side in a seeming embrace. Perhaps all of Nature's creatures need a little cuddle time when they think no one is watching.

O Sole Mio

I caught this delightful singing tree stump during one of my walks in the woods. As the sun shines down on this seemingly dead remains of a tree, it became very much alive to me. The face at the top left of the stump seems to be singing with gaiety. The song on this sunny autumn day could only be O Sole Mio!

Face in a Toadstool

I've always been fascinated with the sudden appearance of toadstools in the yard. They seem to crop up overnight from the moist ground in the most interesting colors, shapes, and patterns. I love to photograph them, and sometimes I will lay in the dirt to get the best angle. Can you imagine my surprise when I took my camera for a close-up of this one? There is a little face peering out from the white spot from the lower center of this lemon spotted beauty. If you click on the image to enlarge it, you can see the sad eyed, perplexed look of the little one.  Perhaps my flash caught him off guard as was quietly sleeping in the coolness of the moist soil on a hot summer morn. I only took one quick shot, as the look on the little face did not seemed too amused.

Flowers in Prayer

The sunlight is shining down upon these gentle creatures of beauty. In prayer, they lift their dainty heads to the sky... in thankfulness for their nourishment. I just love the contrast of the deep lavender flowers alongside the red green leaves and pink buds. This is a bouquet of beauty arranged in harmony within natural surroundings.
