Wild Cherries

A warm setting sun glides lightly over the cherries as they drip from the branches and ripen... waiting for the birds to come.

A Chatty Friend

"Hey Wen, come out to play"... my little deer friend seems to say. I watched her grow from a frolicking fawn, she has no fear as she approaches the lawn.

Black Eyed Susans

Summer would not be in full swing without the charms of the Black Eyed Susan. I love the wild look of them as they grow in big clusters. I was curious about their name and found they were named for a person within a poem. I've included a great little web page that includes the poem.

Great Blue Heron

I spied a heron through the forest bramble... tall, confident, and content to be who he is in a murky world.

Apple on a Tree

Love the way the water rolls off the apple's back as it hangs from it's perch upon the speckled tree.

Alien Jokes

I saw this stick lying in the grass and from a distance thought it was a snake. On closer inspection, it was just an alien having a good laugh at his own joke. Made me smile!

Rose of Sharon

Aphrodite would surely be pleased with the Rose of Sharon variety named for her. The triune faces of love, beauty, and desire, sing together against a backdrop of cedar.

Chinese Lanterns

Beautiful Chinese Lanterns grown and picked by my mother-in-law for me, grace my table with their warm glow... like little pumpkins! Ironically these are not native to China, but were discovered in Japan as an edible weed plant of the nightshade family.

Water Colored Finches

Sometimes in the blurred shot, a subtle feeling is captured. Here the finch couple sits at the feeder. He is busy eating while she is daydreaming and singing.

Thunderhead

A great cloud rolls in from the East and accumulates to a stampeding thunderhead.

Little Wooden Heads

It was as tall as I, this upstart of the woods. Upon closer inspection it became a whole community of chattering wooden heads... paying no mind at all to the spellbound creature who gawked.

Banner of Summer

In colors of lush green, warm blue, and fleecy white the colors of Summer invite the senses to stop, take notice, and rest for a while.

Attention Seeker

Sometimes when I ride my bike, I will hear the call of a little flower as I pass... "woo hoo, look at me, am I not beautiful as I bask in the sun?" Even from a passing distance I will return and capture her moment of glamorous glory.

Fungi Face

Like a giant lump of sculptor's clay, this tree fungi invites the imagination to mold it into haunting faces.

Lonely Little Chair

Dawn comes slowly with the twinkle and lull of the rain. The porch light is on illuminating the leaves from the side out of sight. It waits patiently, as there is nothing left to do... but wait...

Punks Loitering

Young slackers hanging out in their favorite dirty digs... each itching to be picked up and lit as a marauder's torch.

Wild Roses

Although they have since bloomed out, the wild roses were captured "in the pink" as they danced in the early summer breezes... skirting the edge of darkened forest.

Flames on Char

There is a feeling both exhilarating and terrifying at once as I watch the fiery flames lick and caress the innocence of dried wood with a malevolent hunger.

Chicory

Chic chicory, chic chicory, chic chic-ory, a weed is as lovely as lovely can be...

Sunset and the Trees

The sky so ethereal with its sun-bled clouds yawning to the blue. The trees stand transfixed in filigree attention watching the colors fade into a graying darkness.

Keeping Cool

After a nice roll in the dirt mound behind the iron cow, our resident bun-bun lays on her side to watch the world go by on a hot lazy summer evening. She has eaten all the flowers that one grazed the mound and feels at home in her spot in the yard.

Cardinal Significance

At her passing, a window prism rainbow illuminated her peaceful face as the cardinal grosbeak sang a trilling tune. Now when I hear or see a crested cardinal I think of my grandma and know she is still with me... watching and encouraging as only a grandmother can. I love you grandma!

Mama Duck

She silently swims with her ducklings in tow... her proud reflection mirrored in the tree lined water of the rippling canal.

Sparks of Light

A setting sun paints the sky as a thousand sparks of light burst their last glimmer before nightfall.

Hovering

High above the beach, a lone cloud lingers to watch the people parade below. A spectacle of brightly colored umbrellas and milling and dashing about... he is content to hover a while as the world floats by.

Mossy Wooden Jetty

After a splashing wave wash, curling foam caresses the old wooden jetty as the sun glints upon the mossy peaks. Emerald islands stand stoic in the frolicking sea.

Dragon Lady

Posing with wings of haute couture, this classy lady sat still upon the brass gate as I fumbled with the camera like an inexperienced papperazzo. She was proud and patient as I zoomed in to catch this lucky shot.

Blackbirds and Blackberries

Blackberries are bursting from their vines enticing the shy red winged blackbirds who live nearby. I can hear their tsk, tsk, tsking as I approach the vine to take a shot. As I leave, they resume their song which sounds to me like a woooo-weee... song of joy.
