Beautiful Chinese Lanterns grown and picked by my mother-in-law for me, grace my table with their warm glow... like little pumpkins! Ironically these are not native to China, but were discovered in Japan as an edible weed plant of the nightshade family.
They are so very vibrant.
ReplyDeleteThey are Opaque... the mot energetic ones I have ever seen!
ReplyDelete~you have reminded me of these enchanting little flowers...i want to plant some in my garden...gorgeous...warm wishes and brightest blessings~
ReplyDeleteTHey are like having a mini-pumpkin patch that harvests in July. Good luck with them Faerwillow. I'm told they are easy to grow!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous and so colourful, particularly appealing to me, I have to say. I used to have loads of these in my gardens but they are very invasive and have to be restrained somewhat.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Star
Thanks Star and blessings to you! I imagine these beautiful weeds could get annoying if left unrestrained. I tried to grow them but I wasn't successful. I'm not too good in the gardening department but I sure appreciate other people's gardening efforts!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture. It reminds me of something we grew in our garden ages ago, just can't remember what it was.
ReplyDeleteOh, and nice blog name.
Thanks for stopping by Casey! They are also called winter cherry, bladder cherry, or physalis alkekengi. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI've always loved this plant. I buy stalks with the 'lanterns' each year at the farmers market. Great photo!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Rue! Don't you just love the farmers market? I buy all my produce there and it's always nice to pick up a little something to decorate the home with. Brightest Blessings!
