Whether it a remembrance of the roots of ancestry
or a reminder to stand tall and kind and flexible in the wind
or a call to use imagination to hunt moose without a gun
the woods is a great place to go inward to enjoy your own creative thoughts!
A joyful wonderment to you today!

Though they shiver in the cool salty breeze and it's hard to get them in focus, the Maryland beach flowers still thrive in the warm October sun. I know the goldenrod isn't a flower, just a weed, but I like to give weeds their moment of glory as well.

There in the yard an old linden tree lay... uprooted and split at the base. The leaves, still green, gave off an eerie death rattle in the breeze. She had survived a fungal infection to her distal branches, and a wire noose that someone harnessed into her trunk, and a glancing lightening strike that rendered a small patch of her bark bruised purple, and yet it only took one gust of wind to push her over the edge. A sprinkling of young weeds had already claimed the territory surrounding her uprooted base... life continues.
This tree hugger offered a prayer of thanks for her years of service to the birds that sought refuge under her outstretched limbs and said a fond farewell... her remains will be cremated in a farmers wood-burning stove and life will continue around her former dwelling place.
